Checking Your Dialup Networking
for Windows 95/98

Open up My Computer by:
1. Double clicking on the icon called My Computer, to get the below dialogue box.

Open up Dialup Networking by:
2. Double clicking on the icon called Dialup Networking, to get the below dialogue box.

Open up the Properties for Lake Country Online
  • Click ONCE (1) on the icon for Lake Country Online. (This should highlight the icon only.)
  • Click on the word FILE
  • Click on the word PROPERTIES
You should then see the below dialogue box. Be sure that you have the correct area code, phone number and modem listed.

Next click on the Server Types Tab.
  1. Check the TYPE OF DIALUP SERVER:
    (This should read: PPP:Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet or PPP:Internet, WindowsNT Server, Windows 98)
  2. Check the ADVANCE OPTIONS:
    (You only need to have "Enable Software Compression" checked.)
  3. Check the ALLOWED NETWORK PROTOCOLS:
    (Here you will only need the "TCP/IP" to be checked.)

Checking Server Types

Once you have verified the above settings, then "OK" anc "Close" your way out till you get back to your desk top.
